The Future of Skincare

BACKGROUND

Developed by L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator in partnership with SkinCeuticals, a leader in advanced skincare and one of L’Oréal’s brands, D.O.S.E is an advanced state-of-the-art service engineered to scan and evaluate consumers unique skin needs and combine active ingredients into a tailor-made, corrective serum.

CHALLENGE

To build a comprehensive infrastructure covering all the possible outcomes with the use of the simulator, making it economical and cost-effective. Monitoring closely on the firmware integrated circuit to script all permutation and combination attached with the various features of the product.

EXECUTION

IC scripting – In order to make the older script feasible for new firmware, Vinsol renewed the python script that was developed by previous developers

Dispensing – One of the most delicate parts of the job was to handle the dispensing operation of the machine. Vinsol introduced dispense error handling, an advanced sophisticated feature that helps to recover from incorrectly mixed serum. An algorithm was designed to maintain the dispense ratio precision for accurate results.

Touch Handling -Since the device was remotely used all over the world, gathering information about any crash/bug related reports was a tough job. A solid infrastructure was built using Google Firebase and database to collect logs from both front-end and back-end for each and every activity performed by the system. These logs were generated every millisecond so as to track all sessions.

Online mode – The interaction between the machine and the app is done through Bluetooth. In addition to the parallel development of the Android app, our team also created an online mode so as to avoid process repetition for similar kinds of data. Patient records are maintained in a central location and a dermatologist can access the stored information from different devices located in any part of the world.

Maintenance – Vinsol created a provision for the users to organize information more efficiently by associating pieces of information with tags. For tracking and analyzing tags on events, tools like Google tag manager and Google analytics were used. This helped in executing the “Maintenance Wizard” more efficiently and opened the route for data mining.

RESULT

The project went on production within 6 months. The product is being used in 10 countries so far with 150 machines deployed. The target is to deploy 500 machines by 2022.
